Who remembers Bebo??

Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Blogger and lord who remembers bebo!!  I’m not sure if I can possibly add another social media account, the other issue is that at my age I can’t remember all the bloody passwords!!  I had to laugh a few shall we say younger friends of mine where adding there old bebo pics to Facebook and where like ooooh look we are so young in that I’m like look I’m 25, that the age you stop getting ID.

There are many benefits to joining social media sites, as a traveller who has lived in many locations across the world I am pretty sure I wouldn’t have been able to keep in touch with the amount of people I have met and spent time with.  The easy and assessable nature is what attracts social media users the direct access to clubnights, artists, groups and much more allow the lazy generation to access lots of info form one point.  However am I the only way that finds it a little stalkerish that when you’re on facebook minding your own business, the adverts at the side seem to grass you up for any of the weird and wonderful things you may have been looking at in the last few weeks.  I’m sorry but my secret life (not so secret now) of internet dating doesn’t mean I need the help of stylists, ten million more dating sites or the help of certain dieting fads!!

Has anyone else also experienced absolute weirdo’s who have no friends in common popping up to be added and you think where did they pluck my name from??? (Answers on a postcard please) also the scary moment when you wake up from the night before to a million messages of ‘lovely pic’ only to realise that is wasn’t one of the thousand selfies you took in bathroom, but one of your so called friends thought the world should share your arse hanging out over a table pic.  That’s when even this old dog had to work out the privacy settings..haha try and tag me now bitches!!

Body Morphia?

So today I decided to add to my growing tattoo collection, anyone who enjoys this process knows the love of the sound the machine makes. This decision has been met with mixed reviews. There have been many who I feel couldn't quite say what they wanted, this I imagine would have been a loud slow motion NOOOOOO!! That reaction however is not sitting well with me. I ponder as to what the problem is. Surely a woman in her thirties has the right to be given the respect that she is in control of her decisions and body and shouldn't be judged on how these decisions are acted out. Whilst in my twenties this would have probably been put down to a phase in which I was trying to be experimental and fun there appears to be a pressure after 30 to suit up if you will (thanks Barney) and become boring.

In my younger years however I started to get tattoos after inhaling large amounts of alcohol (I’m sure many will relate) thinking that a butterfly somehow related to a freedom of some sort now I realise it was actually a great way of restricting what clothes I wear as I permanently try to hide it. Nowadays I go to one tattoo artist I decide what I want and spend a year thinking about it, talk over the design and enjoy the process of permanently marking my body. Another reaction is one of how will these tattoos effect my job prospects, well at my age if your still a student its maybe not at the top of agenda (ha-ha). My say is that it’s my body my life my decision and after all surely now that I’m getting old its ok to cover up that old lady skin with something prettier and easier on the eye. That’s the truth of the matter I’m just thinking about everyone else ;)!! Tattoo artists should be respected and revered especially talented ones. I have attached a link to the studio I attend.

It starts

OK here goes.... This blog is about the joys of your early thirties (insert sarcasm) when your single, a mature student and only have half an idea about what it is your supposed to be doing, not as it may suggest actual trials!!  Lets begin with the creation of this blog, listening to my lecture explain the intricateness of how to create and modify felt like listening to an alien language and the hint of code writing like a course in hieroglyphics.

As I struggle to work out how to update, include hyper-links, insert widgets (what even is that?) I realise that course in Latin really was the wrong move.  I blame my increasing decent into old age and the school system because my introduction to computers was on the old white apple computers that didn't even connect to the internet.  Where floppy disks ruled and touch typing was classed as computer skills. Before this point my involvement with technology and the workings of, tend to be on the old adage that you either turn things off and on or keep pressing buttons till something works!!

For some time now I have been under the pretence that being able to send an email and reach friends/update on Facebook and my recent addition to Instagram meant my integration to the internet was almost complete.  So I ask anyone who may be reading this to bear with me and my slow decent into madness whilst trying to update myself to this centenary. The blog will not always focus on technology but also will be in an insight into what it feels like to function in a society that seems to be moving faster than many of my generation feels happy to keep up.  Or is that just me?
